Energy + Electrolytes!

Energy + Electrolytes!
We all know that sugar is evil, so I won't even get into that. This image does all the talking for me.

Both of my kids are athletes and they are often encouraged to drink G drink, many believe it to be healthy. But it's just another sugary drink....boooo.

I was looking for a solution that would work for us... it had to be simple to make, cost affective, taste good (kids won't want it otherwise) and be healthy.

Here is what we do:

I have a huge mason jar (8 cups/ 64 oz).
I fill it with filtered water
Add 1-2 scups of Aminowise  and one squirt of Vitality Drops.
Add ice if needed.

Sometimes I drink it right out of the jar. Other times I pre- make it and keep it in the fridge. When kids want a drink, they shake it and pour it over the ice.

These two products are on my monthly subscription order to make sure that I never run our and always have a secret stash :) just in case it goes out of stock for a bit.

Do you know why amino acids are so important?

Amino acids are classified as non-essential amino acids (you produce them on your own), conditionally essential amino acids (can usually be produced by your body), and essential amino acids (EAAs, cannot be made by the body so you must get them through diet or supplementation) Of the EAAs, three are superstars -- the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs): leucine, isoleucine, and valine. BCAAs make up about 35% of your muscle tissue.

Your ability to maintain, or build lean body mass, or muscle, is based on the levels of protein synthesis and protein breakdown throughout the day. As you age, protein breakdown tends to accelerate. To slow the protein breakdown you can eat more high quality protein and supplement with EAAs.

Because your level of muscle mass plays a significant role in longevity, anything that increases protein synthesis or decreases protein breakdown can support your quality of life throughout your lifespan. Since amino acids play such an essential role in building and maintaining lean body mass, they must be a consistent part of a healthy diet!

Bucket List: Happy & Healthy Life

Bucket List: Happy & Healthy Life
We all want to live a long, happy and healthy life, right? Well these two things go hand in hand. One of my favorite things just happens to be exercising, but it wasn't that way until I found a type of "movement" that I really enjoy. I don't dread going to the gym now, now I consider it my "me time". But there is another thing that the gym gives me, ENDORPHINS! I didn't realize that this is what keeps me going back! I have more energy and focus when I leave.

Endorphins are defined as chemicals the body releases to relieve stress and pain. They are the result of a natural process, and they are better than opioids according to MedicalNewsToday. For years, researchers suspected that endorphins caused the so-called “runner’s high,” a feeling of euphoria that happens after lengthy, vigorous physical activity. However, you don't only experience endorphins from exercise, they are also released when you laugh, experience gratitude, give to others, and eat some dark chocolate!

My Secret to Keeping Up with Workouts

My Secret to Keeping Up with Workouts

How many times during the workout have you thought “I hope this will be over soon”?
Did you catch yourself looking at the watch?
Did you try to find shortcuts while working out?

Here is my secret...I have to find what I really like.

Let’s take zumba for example. I looooove dancing, but I don’t always love zumba classes.
Anytime it starts to feel like a workout vs dancing, I look at the clock.
When I walk in the room and I see that the instructor has a huge smile on her face, greeting everyone (not just regulars) I can feel her energy and get very excited about the class.

What have you tried so far? Maybe group sport (tennis, volleyball or alike) is your thing.
Maybe you can join a running group or maybe you prefer doing bootcamps or riding a horse.
Keep trying new things until you’ll find yourself wanting to go and do it. It won’t be a chore anymore, you’ll look forward to it.

I have tried working out at home and I found million excuses each time to do something else. Or I would pick the shortest workout :)
Finally, we had toured few gyms, I picked the one that had all that I was looking for and now I can’t wait to go there five times per week.

Don’t give up, you’ll feel so good when you’ll get your bones moving!
