How to eat candy and don't feel guilty?
My friends tell me that it's okay to give candy to their kids, because THEY ate candy growing up.

I agree with that :) I have a sweet tooth myself.

I grew up eating chocolate as well, the difference is that my candy didn't have 10 different dyes in it, that cause cancer, ADHD, allergies, learning impairment, irritability, aggressiveness...you get an idea.
I am not implying that sugar is good for us, I choose to give it to my kids in moderation. There are a lot of great companies popping up, here in the US, that make "clean" candy.

Here are few examples for you, tell me what's the biggest difference?
I got shipment of Lithuanian candy from my mom , here are the ingredients:
"Sugar, skimmed milk powder, cocoa butter, cacao mass, milk fat, hazelnut mass, emulsifiers, polyglyceryl palyricinoleate, lecithin, natural vanilla flavor".

This is "nameless" candy, that my kids get in their Halloween bag every year:
"Sugar, invert sugar, corn syrup, modified corn starch, tartaric acid, citric acid, natural and artificial flavoring, yellow 6, red 40, yellow 5, blue 1. 1. Sugar: A sweetening additive. Made mainly from sugar cane and sugar beet."

You must become a good label reader. Otherwise, you are willing using your hard earned money to buy products that make you sick. And then pay for treatments to make yourself better. It becomes a circle of doing the same thing over and over again.

There are tons of candies/ chocolate that are fair trade, without dyes and other yuck.
All you need to do is read the ingredients and try several of them until you find what you like.

Where to buy it.
Look at your closest farmers market or alike stores, that support local business.
If that's not an option, Whole Foods and Sprouts always have good selection.
When I shop online, I go to Natural Candy Store, it's great for those with allergies as well.

TIP: Candy without a dye or corn syrup tastes just as good if not better!
